San Francisco: A Place Worthy Of Exploring
This last weekend I had the privilege of hanging out with long time friends of mine in San Francisco. We wanted to try and capture the beauty in the mundane. To be honest, It’s not terribly hard to pull that off when you’re as beautiful on the inside and out as Alexis and Florence are. The overall mission for us was to try and capture a visual story of their everyday lives and ideally eat copious amounts of food along the way 🙂
We enjoyed embracing the local side of San Francisco. We hopped on the BART train, diving into the city’s vibrant energy and connecting with its rich tapestry of people and places. We weaved our way through the farmers market on the wharf, local spots in little Italy, China town, and Japan time, and we also had the chance to experience the future of transportation with Waymo driverless cars.
Without question though, the real winner from the weekend was my stomach. Those that know me know that Meilani and I base most of our vacations or family outings around what food we’re going to eat, and SF did not disappoint. From literal hole-in-the-wall treasures like Golden Boy Pizza to iconic spots in little Italy like The Stinking Rose, we ate our way through the city, indulging in flavors that seemed to encapsulate the diverse culture of San Francisco. It was decadent, it was delicious, and yes, we probably overdid it, and I do not apologize.
What struck me most about the weekend was how exploring a city so close to home can feel like stepping into an entirely new world. Often, we think of adventure as something that requires passports and plane tickets, but this weekend reminded me of the magic that’s right in our backyard. A staycation like this—rooted in connection and curiosity—is a powerful way to recharge and find inspiration in the familiar. Embrace the places and people close to home. Take that staycation, hop on the local train, try the new thing, and savor every bite along the way. Because sometimes, the best adventures happen when we slow down, stay local, and truly appreciate what’s already around us.
Here’s to friendship, discovery, and the beauty of staying close to home. ❤️
